Chiral Symmetry Breaking for Domain Wall Fermions in Quenched Lattice QCD
نویسنده
چکیده
The domain wall fermion formulation exhibits full chiral symmetry for finite lattice spacing except for the effects of mixing between the domain walls. Close to the continuum limit these symmetry breaking effects should be described by a single residual mass. We determine this mass from the conservation law obeyed by the conserved axial current in quenched simulations with β = 5.7 and 6.0 and domain wall separations varying between 12 and 48 on 8× 32 and 16× 32 lattices. Using the resulting values for the residual mass we perform two complete and independent calculations of the pion decay constant. Good agreement is found between these two methods and with experiment.

Light quark masses from Domain Wall Fermions
We present results for the renormalised light and strange quark masses calculated using Domain Wall Fermions in quenched QCD. New results using the DBW2 gauge action at a ≈ 2GeV and a ≈ 1.3GeV will be presented and compared against existing results at a ≈ 2GeV using the Wilson gauge action. This comparison allows a study of the uncertainties due to both finite lattice spacing and residual chira...
متن کاملLight hadronic physics using domain wall fermions in quenched lattice QCD
In the past year domain wall fermion simulations have moved from exploratory stages to the point where systematic effects can be studied with different gauge couplings, volumes, and lengths in the fifth dimension. Results are presented here for the chiral condensate, the light hadron spectrum, and the strange quark mass. We focus especially on the pseudoscalar meson mass and show that, in small...
متن کاملQCD, Symmetry Breaking and the Random Lattice
According to the Nielsen-Ninomiya No-Go theorem, the doubling of fermions on the lattice cannot be suppressed in a chiral theory. Whereas Wilson and staggered fermions suppress doublers with explicit breaking of chiral symmetry, the random lattice does so by spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking even in the free theory. I present results for meson masses, the chiral condensate and fermionic eige...
متن کاملQuenched Lattice QCD with Domain Wall Fermions and the Chiral Limit
Quenched QCD simulations on three volumes, 83×, 123× and 163 × 32 and three couplings, β = 5.7, 5.85 and 6.0 using domain wall fermions provide a consistent picture of quenched QCD. We demonstrate that the small induced effects of chiral symmetry breaking inherent in this formulation can be described by a residual mass (mres) whose size decreases as the separation between the domain walls (Ls) ...
متن کاملDecays with Domain Wall Fermions: Towards Physical Results
We are using domain wall fermions to study K → ππ matrix elements by measuring K → π and K → 0 matrix elements on the lattice and employing chiral perturbation theory to relate these to the desired physical result. The residual chiral symmetry breaking of domain wall fermions with a finite extent in the fifth dimension impacts these measurements. Using the Ward-Takahashi identities, we investig...
